Drifting Body

Introdution
Chapter 2: “The Search”
Using slow shutter speeds and blurred, distorted images, this work captures the confusion, friction, and emotional instability that can emerge during the process of gender exploration. Our bodies and minds are never fixed within a single box. Instead, they drift across border after border on a spectrum. It is a process of constant recalibration and reconstitution. We move back and forth between different spaces and experiences, accepting the uncertainty and chaos of life, and gradually discover our corporeal- and mental-fluidity through repeated explorations.
Comment From the Judge :
LAI, Francisca Yuen-Ki
Drifting Body captures a dual sense of movement and uncertainty where the body seems to be pacing, but also seems to have stopped. This photograph responds closely to the theme of the exhibition. The body adrift is constantly adjusting and reconstructing itself, demonstrating the beauty that exists beyond the gender binary.
As a panel judge, I was fascinated by the image, captured between my urge to see it clearly and my inability to do so. Overall, Drifting Body successfully conveys both its message and its visual beauty, making it an outstanding work.
