Hide It Well
Introdution
They told me,
“Hide it a little better.
It will look better that way.”
Why?
Comment From the Judge :
ENO CHEN
The deliberate camera angle makes viewers feel as if they are looking up at the person in the photograph. This gives the figure a commanding, almost intimidating presence.
The flowing long hair and fitted, feminine clothing with ruffles might normally be associated with the conventional image of a sexy female body. Yet the blurred face, the shadows between the legs, and the ambiguous shape of the body make the image mysterious, provocative, and challenging.
The title is Hide It Well. What is being hidden?
Perhaps it is irony: we are told that hiding something makes it better, yet the very act of hiding makes us more curious and invites further exploration and imagination.
By crossing conventional gender stereotypes and loosening established symbols of gender expression, the work creates a bold and powerful image that is difficult to forget among the entries in this competition.
